Overview

Anthony LoPresti (“AJ”) leverages his hands-on experience and deep knowledge of New Jersey’s political landscape in his regulatory practice, where he counsels government agencies, public universities, corporations, political committees, and politically active individuals on issues in connection with campaign finance law, pay-to-play laws, election law, conflict of interest law, independent investigations, proposed legislation, and general compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations.

In addition, AJ is a commercial litigator who drafts pleadings, motions, and memoranda on complex commercial litigation and environmental matters.  He handles a wide range of matters in the areas of contract disputes, CERCLA and the Spill Act.  He also conducts legal research and manages multiple facets of discovery, including interrogatories and document productions.

AJ also serves as a court-appointed mediator on the Essex Early Settlement Panel.

Prior to joining Connell Foley, AJ clerked for the Hon. Bonnie J. Mizdol, A.J.S.C. in Bergen County.  He also interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, and for the Hon. James J. DeLuca, J.S.C. and the Hon. Robert L. Polifroni, J.S.C.

During law school, AJ served as an editor for the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, where his Comment, “Blurring the Lines: How Consolidating School Districts Can Combat New Jersey’s Public School Segregation Problem,” was published.  He also served as a Senator with the Student Bar Association.  He also dedicated his time to pro bono work, acting as a Student Attorney for the Equal Justice Clinic at Seton Hall’s Center for Social Justice and representing asylum seekers at the United States-Mexico border through RAICES and the Karnes Pro Bono Project.

Outside the office, AJ enjoys playing golf and basketball.  He is an avid reader, of mostly historical non-fiction, and a big Jets, Yankees, and Knicks fan.
