Karen Painter Randall, Chair of Connell Foley's Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Group, is quoted in ROI-NJ's article "Phish bait: With pandemic-related fears swirling, cybercriminals are finding myriad opportunities to infiltrate businesses." The article discusses the increase in cyber attacks related to, on preying on the fears of, COVID-19.
As Karen notes, emotions are running high during the pandemic and people are more susceptible to phishing attacks. She also highlights the increasing sophistication of attacks, including REvil, a type of malware that threatens to publicize a cyber victim's sensitive information. And although it is unclear exactly how many cyber attacks are happening on a regular basis, Karen points out that the full extent of these attacks may not be fully realized for a couple of months once people are back to work.
