Michael A. Shadiack, chair of Connell Foley’s Labor & Employment Law Group, recently presented to the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) on "HR Essentials: Why Do I Need an Employment Manual?" Mr. Shadiack, speaking at the NACD's 2016 Northeast Region Meeting, which was held September 19-21 in Providence, provided an in-depth look at the importance of having a compliant employee handbook. In particular, he addressed how a properly drafted handbook can help employers achieve three main objectives: 1) clear communication with employees; 2) administrative efficiency; and 3) best employment practices and policies to avoid or minimize workplace disputes and litigation.
