Karen Painter Randall, co-chair of Connell Foley’s Cyber Security and Data Privacy Group, recently authored two separate articles for the LPL eAdvisory, an e-newsletter of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Lawyers' Professional Liability.
In “NAIC sets new cybersecurity principles,” published in the July LPL eAdvisory, Ms. Randall discusses the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ recently released principles for effective cybersecurity. The principles are intended to clarify and adopt existing best practices, while also explaining regulatory obligations, in an effort to promote better cybersecurity.
In “Plaintiffs survive motion to dismiss in Sony class action lawsuit,” which was published in the June 2015 eAdvisory, Ms. Randall reviews the recent decision in a case stemming from a cyber-attack on Sony's internal network that caused the release of, among other things, the personally identifiable information of Sony employees.
