ROSELAND, N.J./June 25, 2010 -- Neil V. Mody delivered a set of presentations entitled "Deconstructing Chinese Drywall: Analysis of First- and Third-Party Chinese Drywall Coverage Claims" at the Property Loss Research Bureau and Liability Insurance Research Bureau (PLRB/LIRB) 2010 Eastern Regional Adjusters Conference on June 22 and 23 in Atlanta, Georgia. The interactive lecture series included an in-depth analysis and review of every Chinese drywall coverage opinion issued nationwide, and examined the coverage implications of recent CDW liability developments, including a $2.4 million verdict against a distributor returned just days before the Conference in a bellweather CDW action. The program also featured an opportunity for insurance claim professionals to evaluate, discuss and debate hypothetical CDW claims modeled after actual cases in this quickly emerging area of law.
Mody's practice is focused on litigation, counseling, and monitoring on behalf of domestic and internationally-based insurers with respect to a broad range of insurance coverage matters dealing with construction defect claims, property issues, general liability coverage, excess liability claims, long-tail claims (such as environmental, asbestos, and other toxic torts), bad faith/extra-contractual claims, reinsurance matters, product liability, and catastrophic loss. Mr. Mody is a member of Connell Foley's Insurance Coverage practice group. He is also an active member of PLRB/LIRB, an insurance trade organization whose purposes include promoting education with respect to new developments in liability and property issues within the insurance industry.
