Connell Foley Partner, Karen Painter Randall, has been appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to serve on the Board on Attorney Certification for a three year term starting January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016. “The work of the Civil Certification Committee is important to the Court, to the Bar and to the citizens of New Jersey. I am certain that your experience and insight will be a valuable asset,” said the Honorable Glenn A. Grant, J.A.D. Chief Justice Stuart Rabner signed the Order appointing Randall on November 18, 2013.
The New Jersey Supreme Court Board on Attorney Certification administers the certification program in the state. The Board consists of nine members, all of whom are members of the Bar of New Jersey. In addition, there are four Certification Committees that are responsible for reviewing certification applications and for creating and grading the certification examinations. These Committees are: the Civil Trial Law Certification Committee; the Criminal Trial Law Certification Committee; the Matrimonial Law Certification Committee; and the Workers' Compensation Law Certification Committee. Each Committee reports its eligibility findings to the Board for its report to the Supreme Court. The Board is responsible for the operation of the certification program, including: financial, policy, and rule-making functions. The Board also acts as an appellate arm when an aggrieved attorney appeals a decision made by a Certification Committee.
