January 30, 2017 - Agnes Antonian, chair of Connell Foley’s Environmental Law Group, was selected by NJBIZ for the 2017 “Best 50 Women in Business” award. This annual listing recognizes the state’s “most dynamic women in business.” Ms. Antonian and the other honorees will be recognized at an awards dinner on March 20 at The Palace at Somerset Park.
Drawing upon an extensive scientific and legal background, Ms. Antonian has a unique and highly sought-after perspective on New Jersey’s most complex environmental matters. As Chair of Connell Foley's Environmental Law Group, she handles a variety of complex environmental litigation and land use matters, and other complex business litigation.
Ms. Antonian currently serves as outside environmental counsel to a major utility in connection with the country’s largest Superfund site, the $1.4 billion EPA-ordered cleanup of the Passaic River. She is also currently counsel to the Special Master in the enforcement of one of the largest ever court-ordered environmental cleanups in the country. In addition to these matters, she has significant trial experience in both federal and state court cases, as well as private costs-recovery litigation and alternative dispute resolutions.
In 2010, Ms. Antonian was named to the New Jersey Law Journal’s "40 Under 40" listing of young attorneys considered top leaders in the state's legal community. She graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2000, and received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1993. From 2001 through 2002, Ms. Antonian clerked for the Hon. Katharine S. Hayden in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
