Connell Foley's Taxation & Estate Planning Group (“the Group”) has expanded its capabilities by adding and promoting several key team members. These enhancements will allow the Group to continue to offer a broad range of top-notch services and are consistent with the team’s national reputation for excellence in the wealth preservation, tax, trust, and estate planning space.
The Group promoted four lawyers to partner: Mary Goldhirsch, Brittany Miano, Michael Mirone, and Karin Spalding. Joining the Group as Of Counsel is Sara Jane Holland, a seasoned tax lawyer with significant transactional tax law experience that will augment the group’s scope of services.
Anthony Vitiello, the Group Chair, said, "With Sara's arrival and the recent promotions, our tax and estate planning team has become one of the most significant in the region. Our attorneys collaborate with lawyers across the firm, working with various practice groups, including Corporate, Real Estate, and Litigation. With our strong team and the backing of an interdisciplinary firm, we are well-equipped to meet the increasing demand for our top-notch tax and estate services."
Vitiello, who founded the Group and has been with Connell Foley since 1999, is a highly respected thought leader in the estate planning space. Under his leadership, the Taxation & Estate Planning practice has grown to eleven dedicated attorneys and has become a nationally recognized provider of exceptional wealth preservation services. Focusing on estates ranging from $20 million to over $1 billion, Vitiello provides counsel on significant tax issues for ultra-high net worth individuals and families, as well as their foundations, closely held corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies. He also has a substantial practice in gift, estate, and income tax audits and controversies.
Sara Jane Holland regularly counsels for-profit and non-profit clients on tax matters resulting from day-to-day business operations, significant transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, and partnership formation. She advises business owners on pre-liquidity tax structuring and business succession planning. Karin Spalding, Mary Goldhirsch and Brittany Miano focus on the administration of estates and trusts, counseling fiduciaries on their role as executor, administrator, or trustee. Michael Mirone focuses on sophisticated estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning and multi-generational wealth transfers. He joins Tony, and partners Dan Kessler and Jason Falk on the estate, gift and trust planning side of the Group.
