Lacey
Appointed to New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on
Electronic Filing
Roseland, NJ, November 6, 2008 –
John P. Lacey,
a partner with Connell Foley LLP, was recently appointed to
the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Electronic Filing
by New Jersey Chief Justice Stuart Rabner. Mr. Lacey is one
of a distinguished assembly of judges, attorneys, corporate
executives and state and federal government officials
appointed to this newly created Supreme Court Special
Committee chaired by Former Attorney General John Degnan.
Chief
Justice Rabner has asked the committee to prepare a
comprehensive set of recommendations on how to make e-filing
broadly available in New Jersey’s court system. Other items
the committee will examine include: what electronic filing
systems the Judiciary already has in place and how those
could be used or improved upon; how to identify the type of
system that should be built; where the greatest need for
e-filing exists and where the greatest opportunities lie for
rapid deployment; and how to identify and obtain resources
both within the Judiciary and from the private sector,
particularly with the very difficult funding issues facing
the state.
“I am
pleased to have been appointed to this dynamic new
committee,” said Mr. Lacey. “It is critical that we utilize
leading edge technologies to increase the efficiency of our
court systems. Besides making it easier for litigants,
practitioners and judges to do their jobs, using the latest
technologies will allow us to realize significant cost
savings in paper use and storage.”
