Lyons to Deliver Sessions on Contract Negotiation and Breach of Contract Issues at Executive Compensation Seminar

Roseland, NJ, November 6, 2008 M. Trevor Lyons, an attorney with Connell Foley’s Labor and Employment Law practice group, will deliver two sessions at an upcoming seminar on executive compensation.  Negotiating Executive Compensation Agreements is being offered through National Business Institute (NBI) and will be held in Princeton on December 9, 2008 and in Saddle Brook on December 10, 2008.

The seminar will offer executives and attorneys representing executives the keys to negotiating superior executive compensation agreements.  It will also provide insight for in-house counsel about key legal considerations and winning strategies in negotiating with executives.  Additionally, attendees will gain insight on the tax and legal implications involved with employment agreements.

Mr. Lyons will deliver two different sessions at both the Princeton and Saddle Brook seminars.  His morning session, “Successful Negotiation Tactics,” will cover such diverse topics as due diligence and the benefit of corporate intelligence; how to develop your own contract before negotiations; the initial offer; secrets to controlling the give and take; hidden factors the employer is weighing; five things to bring up during negotiations; keys to negotiating incentives and perks; and more.

Mr. Lyons’ afternoon session, “Legal Issues (with Case Studies),” will cover breach of contract issues relating to bankruptcy, oral agreements, resignation and good faith/fair dealing.  Confidentiality and non-compete agreements will also be covered.

Mr. Lyons has focused his practice in the area of labor and employment law since his graduation from law school.  He provides diligent representation on behalf of management for a broad array of labor and employment related claims, including allegations of discrimination, employment contract disputes, restrictive covenants, wrongful terminations and whistleblower complaints.  He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution sections.  For more information, please contact Mr. Lyons at (973) 535-0500 or mlyons@connellfoley.com
