Prior to joining Connell Foley,
Joseph Murphy worked as an associate for the largest law firm in Washington, D.C. and in the Newark, N.J. office of a New York City headquartered law firm. He has counseled commercial tenants, landlords, real estate developers, real estate investment trusts and institutional investors on the acquisition, disposition, development, financing, management and leasing of commercial real estate as well as real estate matters related to mergers and other commercial transactions. Mr. Murphy has
also represented both landlords and tenants in connection with leases and subleases, including for office, warehouse, retail and industrial space.
During law school, Mr. Murphy served as a member of the
Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Murphy worked as an investment accountant with the Prudential Insurance Company of America.

a private investor in the
negotiation of his contemplated
investment in an
existing mixed
use real estate joint venture,
which work included the analysis and
substantial revisions to the operating
agreement establishing the rights of the
parties to the joint venture, and the
subscription agreement which provided
the basis and conditions on which the
investor would be required to
contribute additional capital to the
joint venture in the future:

Drafted and negotiated on behalf of
landlords and tenants (including public
corporations), leases, subleases, ground
leases, lease terminations and
amendments for office, retail and
industrial space and advised clients on
various leasing related matters;
prepared form lease for office park
owner;

Advised and represented national
retailer in expansion of multiple
locations, including obtaining all
governmental and third party approvals
and permits;

Assisted borrower in financing
securitized by interests in and revenue
from health diagnostic centers located
throughout the eastern and central
United States;

Negotiated and drafted various
agreements governing operation of mixed
use high rise with ownership divided
between fee simple and air rights
parcels, including Easement and
