Patrick J. Hughes represents businesses in diverse industries with commercial, product liability, mass tort, construction and insurance coverage litigation. He has tried more than fifty cases in state and federal courts, including several professional liability cases. Based upon his experience as a litigator, the Board of Trial Attorney Certification of the Supreme Court of New Jersey has designated Mr. Hughes a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.

Mr. Hughes also drafts, reviews and negotiates commercial transactions. He is adept at complex negotiations and assists clients in the chemical and energy industries in all phases of commercial contracts.

In addition to his trial and negotiation skills, Mr. Hughes is well-versed in compliance issues, providing counsel to health care clients subject to increasingly complex regulatory constraints and governmental scrutiny.  In that capacity, Mr. Hughes has developed compliance programs for physicians’ practices which address anti-referral, anti-kickback, privacy and other state and federal statutes and regulations.  He also counsels health care practices regarding general corporate matters.

He began his career as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where Mr. Hughes was assigned to the 82d Airborne Division as a prosecutor and international law officer.
