Representative Experience


Craig S. Demareski is a Partner in Connell Foley’s Business Litigation and Professional Liability practice groups.  He represents clients in a wide variety of matters, including complex commercial litigation and professional liability matters.  His practice places particular emphasis on the representation of attorneys, engineers, architects and other professionals in major professional malpractice litigation.  Mr. Demareski has also represented clients in other areas of the law including environmental litigation and white collar criminal defense. 

Mr. Demareski has litigated a wide variety of substantial and complex matters, including professional liability, general liability, environmental and white collar criminal defense matters in the State and Federal Courts.  Mr. Demareski is experienced in all aspects of litigation including initial case assessment, discovery, fact, expert and corporate designee depositions, motion practice, trial preparation, and trial.  His trial experience includes large, complex commercial litigation matters and the management of trial teams for such matters, as well as serving as trial counsel in business litigation and professional liability matters.

Representative Experience

Mr. Demareski has represented clients in litigation in a wide variety of matters:

Representation of a major international law firm in State Court litigation in defense of substantial claims of professional liability and breach of fiduciary duty arising from professional services rendered in a commercial arbitration.  Secured Summary Judgment in favor of the client, dismissing the claims of professional liability, and won a unanimous jury verdict at trial for the client in the amount of $1.5 million;

Representation of a national architectural and planning firm in a dispute with a New Jersey college regarding allegations of negligent design services resulting in cost overruns;

Representation of an international engineering and construction firm in litigation regarding allegations of negligent design and construction of a coker unit at an oil refinery in Texas;

Representation of an international architectural, engineering and design consulting firm in litigation regarding allegations of negligent design services in connection with a bridge widening project in New Jersey;

Representation of a national infrastructure engineering firm in a dispute alleging negligent design services in connection with the construction of a bridge in New York;

Representation of the president of the board of a condominium association in State Court litigation involving claims of misconduct by the board.  Secured a no cause verdict for the client following a two-week bench trial;

Representation of a law firm and individual attorneys in State Court litigation involving claims of professional liability arising from estate planning services and defense of a court challenge to the estate;

Representation of a property management company and its principals in State Court litigation involving claims by a condominium association of negligence and breach of fiduciary duty;

Representation of the Regional President of a major national bank during a nine-week criminal trial in Federal court involving allegations of bribery and honest services fraud in connection with seeking and obtaining banking business with the City of Philadelphia;

Representation of an individual police officer defendant in an employment action against the Borough of Roseland and Police Department involving allegations of violations of CEPA, Section 1983 and Section 1985 and breach of contract;

Representation of a major New Jersey law firm in an employment action by a former named partner involving allegations of intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of CEPA and NJLAD; 

Representation of the property owner’s representative in multi-party construction litigation in New York State Court involving property damage to adjoining structures;

Representation of a pharmacist in a federal criminal action involving allegations of misbranded drugs;  

Representation of a major Hudson County hospital partnership in litigation by the corporate members to dissolve the merged entity;  

Representation of a New Jersey state highway agency in a $30 million environmental cost recovery action;   

Representation of a corporation in connection with the investigation and prosecution of a major chemical facility involving criminal and civil allegations of illegal storage and disposal of hazardous waste and violations of the Water Pollution Control Act and Air Pollution Control Act;
